After creating your account, the first thing to do is set up your studio profile. This tells Nova how to display your studio name in emails, invoices, and the student portal.

Studio profile

  1. Go to Settings in the sidebar
  2. Click Studio Profile
  3. Enter your studio name (e.g., “Kenna Martin Piano Studio”)
  4. Set your display name (how students see you)
  5. Add your contact information
  6. Click Save

Your studio name appears on all outgoing emails, invoices, and in the student portal header.

Timezone

Setting the correct timezone ensures lesson times display correctly for you and your families.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Find the Timezone setting
  3. Select your timezone from the dropdown
  4. Click Save

Changing your timezone after creating lessons may shift how existing events display. Set this early.

Lesson categories

Categories help you organize different types of lessons or practice areas. Default categories include things like Piano, Guitar, and Voice, but you can customize them.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Find Lesson Categories
  3. Click Add Category to create custom categories
  4. You can rename or remove categories you don’t use

Teaching locations

If you teach at multiple locations (home studio, school, online), you can set these up in Settings so they’re available when creating lessons.

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Find Locations
  3. Add each location where you teach
  4. For online lessons, add a location like “Video Call” or “Zoom”

Locations show up on the calendar and in the student portal so families always know where to go.
